Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has completed a detox program
for substance abuse, including snorting heroin, and remains in place to
star in the indie drama “God’s Pocket.”
TMZ.com first reported the thesp going to a rehabilitation facility
for 10 days and checking out May 24. Hoffman told the site that after
using heroin for a week or so, he checked himself into a detox facility
on the East Coast after having been clean for 23 years.
Ironically, Hoffman portrayed a drug addict who kills a heroin dealer
in the 2007 independent drama “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead.”
On the opening day of this year’s Cannes film festival, producers
announced that Hoffman would star in John Slattery’s movie“God’s Pocket”
with Richard Jenkins, Christina Hendricks and John Turturro
co-starring.
